The Navigator doesn’t introduce the student or explain the format. The session is already in progress: “You said the author’s main claim is about fairness. I want to push on that — what does fairness mean to the characters in this text versus what it means to you?”

The student pauses. Not out of confusion — out of thought. That pause is The Loop working.

The Navigator doesn’t fill the silence. They wait. When the student speaks, the answer is more precise than anything they’d have said without the pause.

At the end you’ll hear the Navigator set the write prompt: “Draft a paragraph: what does fairness cost? Use two pieces of evidence from the text. I’ll read it before next session.”
